304 stainless steel tubing offers good formability and can be readily welded by all common methods. An extra low carbon variation, called 304L, avoids harmful carbide precipitation due to welding. This variation offers the same corrosion resistance as 304, but with slightly lower mechanical properties. SAE 304(UNS S30400）stainless steel tube is the most common stainless steel tube. Outside the US it is commonly known as A2 stainless steel tube. In the commercial cookware industry it is known as 18/8 stainless steel tube. In the unified numbering system it is UNS S30400 stainless steel tube. The Japanese equivalent grade of this material is SUS304 SS tube. It is also specified in European norm 1.4301 stainless tube.
